Austin Mendenhall is a Denver, CO based guitarist and audio professional, specializing in composition, sound design, mixing and production. Austin picked up the guitar at age 13 and by 16 performed professionally while attending Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Washington, DC. With his band, ‘The Ordinary Way’ (active from 1998-2006), Mendenhall recorded 3 full-length albums and toured the United States extensively, opening for artists such as Jackson Brown and The Allman Brothers, among many others. During this time, Austin continued his music education in Jazz Studies at both Shenandoah Conservatory and George Mason University.
After moving to Brooklyn in 2008, Mendenhall helped form the Indie Psych-Pop band, SNOWMINE. The group gained momentum in 2011 with their debut release, “Laminate Pet Animal”, selling out clubs in NYC. In 2012, SNOWMINE was featured on the cover of Deli Magazine NYC. They signed a contract with Billions Corp Agency, and began touring internationally, performing at major festivals such as Austin City Limits, SXSW, and NXNE. In spring of 2014, SNOWMINE released their sophomore album 'Dialects' which debuted at #9 on Billboard's Heat Seekers chart and toured across the country and internationally for the rest of the year.
In 2015, while on a break from touring, Austin began working with music and audio house, YouTooCanWoo, as a composer, sound designer and mixer. Over the past 7 years, Mendenhall has been immersed in the commercial and film world, working on award-winning short films featured at major festivals across the country, and high-profile brand campaigns, such as Apple, Google, Mercedes, HBO and more.
In 2018, Austin was one of three co-founders of a premium recording studio and boutique AirBnb, Safe and Sound Studios, with actor and environmentalist, Adrian Grenier.
In 2020, Mendenhall made the move out west to Denver, CO where he is now working as a Creative Director for YouTooCanWoo and will be releasing a new record in 2022 with vocalist, Tiff Ortiz.
